Application of gallic acid in raw materials and biology

Mar 07, 2023

Gallic acid is the first organic acid prepared in the world. It is a white crystalline powder and has a wide range of applications in food, biology, medicine, chemical and other fields.

Gallic acid has many biological activities, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-mutation, anti-oxidation, anti-free radical, etc; Based on this biological characteristic, gallic acid can prolong the survival period of patients by inhibiting the metastasis of mast cell tumor, thus playing a certain anti-tumor effect, especially on the lung adenoma caused by morpholine and sodium nitrite in mice. At the same time, gallic acid has a protective effect on the liver, can resist the liver physiological and biochemical changes induced by carbon tetrachloride, and is also a candidate drug to kill trypanosoma.

Gallic acid is a very good raw material, which can be used to manufacture a variety of fuels, fireworks stabilizers and flute sound agents, or ultraviolet absorbers, flame retardants, semiconductor photoresist raw materials. It can be used to prepare anti-rust primer and aluminum alloy organic coating, and to prepare fluidizing agent for water-based drilling mud. Its effect can even exceed that of lignosulfonate. Gallic acid and trivalent iron ions form blue-black precipitate, which is the raw material of blue-black ink, and is used in combination with vitamin C as an enhanced feed for fish culture. It can also be used as developer and analytical reagent for detecting free inorganic acids, dihydroxyacetone, alkaloids and metals.
